How Close Are We To A Gene Therapy Cure of HIV?

ABSTRACT
With many proposed pathways to HIV cure, one which has been left out of the limelight has been gene therapy, or the introduction of therapeutic genes into a person to provide a protective effect. This talk will examine why gene therapy has been hitherto neglected, and why gene therapy is a promising way towards cure.
ABOUT YOUR SPEAKER
Dr Andrew Wong recently completed his PhD studies under the supervision of Prof. Stuart Turville and Prof. Anthony Kelleher. His projects covered the range of developing novel methods of delivering gene therapy to achieve an HIV cure, and also examining novel genes that have potential therapeutic effects against HIV.
